In honor of Memorial Day weekend, the Milwaukee Preservation Alliance is re-launching an app for homeless and at-risk veterans.
The Milwaukee Soldiers Home app helps those veterans find housing through the Soldier’s Home District.
The district along General Mitchell Boulevard has transformed six buildings into livable spaces for veterans. The app serves as a tour guide through the historic area.
“What you can do while you’re walking these grounds is, it’s all self-paced,” said Peter Zanghi, president of the Milwaukee Preservation Alliance. “So when you’re at a stop in a particular building, you can go to the app and just listen to what the history of that building is, and just get a better feel for the history of the grounds as you do it at your own pace.”
